WOOLWORTHS AGM – CALLING LOCAL SHAREHOLDERS!

Woolworths Annual General Meeting is set for 26th November in Sydney. Are there are any Woolworths shareholders in this community who would like to get together and collectively question the corporation about their intentions in Mullumbimby? Woolworths have invited written questions to be submitted by 19th November, and questions from the floor of that meeting are another excellent action should any shareholder/s be prepared to go to Sydney. Please email compost(at)mullum.com.au to register your interest to participate. (The @ is not written here to prevent automatic spamming).

"THE AGE OF STUPID" is a documentary hosted by the craggy Pete Postlethwaite, taking a look backward from the year 2050. This film is made up of real news items of extreme weather events – this is a great doco that will either leave you feeling gobsmacked or inspired with determination. This was on in Ballina cinema last night thanks to Ballina Climate Action Network and the Greens. Watch out for a local showing, google for trailer or go http://www.ageofstupid.net/

350ppm CAMPAIGN – Thanks Ballina BCAN again - for hosting a 350 event last week, raising awareness of safe level of greenhouse gas so we can keep our Gt Barrier Reef (for example). Council removed my big 350 banner, and later returned it. See movie of what they did around the world at http://www.350.org/oct24-vid

QUOTE: THE GRIEF OF ECOLOGISTS (Martin Holdgate)
In all strict logic, the loss of a species of bird on some small remote island matters little to the future of the world. Even the irreversible loss of soil and vegetation from some eroded African hillside is a small thing. Yet people grieve : these feelings can not be embodied in the hard and brittle logic of science, but they may have truth of another kind, for all that.

TOO MUCH INFORMATION & PSYCHIC NUMBING? This is something I"d like to explore in Gestalt – how to survive the information without going into overwhelm.

Cheers
Deborah
