Mullum-Zine 75 - Financial Review flurry

ADVERT IN FINANCIAL REVIEW – MONDAY 15.2.10

The Mullum Forum Group http://(www.magicalmullum.com) put an ad in the Australian Financial Review this week, and it"s caused a big stir. Check out some of the stories at http://news.google.com/news/story?ncl=http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/02/15/2820329.htm&hl=en and
http://news.google.com.au/news/search?aq=f&um=1&cf=all&ned=au&hl=en&q=mullumbimby+woolworths

In an interview with the ABC North Coast, Woolworths were told about the Northern Star poll in which 87% voted no to Mullum needing a Woolworths and 12% said yes (see http://www.northernstar.com.au/story/2009/09/29/supermarket-battlefield/ Today the Northern Star started another poll, almost identical, so it would be great if everyone would click on this link and vote again
http://www.northernstar.com.au/story/2010/02/16/war-on-woolies-escalates/ (check the burning box pic on this link – that was a great action!) Meanwhile, Magical Mullum are challenging Woolworths to do a professional poll of Mullumbimby residents.

Our man in Maleny (Graham Earle) tells us that Wws PR man Andrew Hall, Director of Corporate & Public Affairs, interviewed on the World Today: (ABC/Radio National 12.2.09 at 32.55mins if you want to listen online) is a ‘big gun" at Wws PR so to get him on, they must be taking Mullum seriously. However, comments about Woolworths designing a building to suit Mullum would be hooey! "We were promised a "boutique supermarket in keeping with Maleny's character" and we got a stock/standard big ugly box" he said. The transcript is at

BROOKFARM WON"T TRADE WITH WWS OR COLES

Local macadamia growers and makers of premium mueslis and muesli bars have won a swag of food industry awards here and overseas, and refuse to sell to Woolworths and Coles because they "have seen brilliant food businesses destroyed". Thanks Richard Champion for this link http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/02/12/2817890.htm
