Woolworths Liquor: last days for submissions!
STOP THE GROG SHOP IN THE HOME ZONE!!
If you don"t want Woolworths to open a Liquor Shop next to their big box supermarket in sleepy Station Street, then please make a submission asap as the deadline is 26 July and hard copies need to be posted this week. There are sample letters to sign at Santos, Eden"s Landing and at the MCAN stall at the Mullum Farmers Market tomorrow.
Alternatively you can check our website
http://www.mullumaction.org and download a copy, or use whichever points you want and send to NSW Casino Liquor & Gaming Control Authority, GPO Box 7060, Sydney 2001 Fax: (02) 9299 7427 info@clgca.nsw.gov.au and please send a copy to Woolworths solicitors who are the official collectors of info for the Community Impact Statement at Back Schwartz Vaughan, 5/75 Elizabeth Street, Sydney, 2000 tschwartz@bsv.com.au . However, since they are employed by Woolworths, we feel it prudent to write to the Authority as well.
COMMUNITY HUB
SUPPORTING COMMUNITY ECONOMIC & CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT building local economy.
MCAN and friends are proposing to set up a Community Hub which could include the following: cafe, co-op, local business incubator spaces, tourist info centre, TeePee local music venue with chai, KIL Keep It Local centre, recycled mart etc. This project is to nurture the local economy, the local culture and the local people. We need to look after the future of our town, have a place where we can come together and have some input about what is happening here. If you" like to participate in this vision, please contact Deborah 66843723 or thru mullumaction.org website.

INDEPENDANT CANDIDATE: JULIE BOYD
Julie Boyd is giving serious consideration to standing as an Independent
candidate in this Federal election. Julie ran a 3 week, budget campaign
in the last State election for Tweed and was extremely pleasantly
surprised at the level of support that existed in the community then.
There do seem to be a large number of people disenchanted by the two
major parties.
Running as an Independent is an onerous challenge and one Julie, and
others are prepared to take on, providing the support is there within
the community. Below is a temporary website which Julie has put up which
you may be interested in visiting and making comment. A decision has to
be made to nominate by Monday.
