FRACKING PROTEST


MURWILLUMBAH, KNOX PARK SAT 14 MAY, 11 am


FRACKING is short for ‘fracturing"; mini earthquakes using huge quantities of water under high pressure mixed with a toxic soup of chemicals, causing unbelievable damage to our biosphere, especially water supplies. Have you seen water ignited from a kitchen tap? Check this: http://www.gasland.com.au/trailer/ - risks already manifested in USA. Northern Rivers and Tweed are regions under direct threat from Coal Seam Gas Mining.

On Saturday 14 May there will be a march from Knox Park, Murwillumbah, at 11.15 am down Main Street & Wollumbin Street, and back to the park for speakers from community and industry groups. This is a United Community Gathering organised by Northern Rivers Guardians and Caldera Environment Centre. http://http://(www.northernriversguardians.org and http://www.calderaenvironmentcentre.org )

Bring banners to enliven the visual protest, a rug and a picnic. Wear white and/or ‘NO FRACKING" tee shirt (avail to purchase) and a gas or dust mask. See you there.
