Don't miss this opportunity to hear first hand the consequences of years of fracking in the USA

Jeremy Buckingham, Greens MP and mining spokesperson, will be speaking about his recent frack finding tour to inspect coal seam gas in the United States and his Responsible Mining Bill (Protect land, water and communities) 2012 at the Mullumbimby Civic Hall 5.30pm Friday 14th December 2012.
Jeremy Buckingham will show images and a video showing the impact of the unconventional gas industry in places like Texas, Wyoming and Pennsylvania.

"My recent tour of the United States highlighted the dangers of coal seam gas and provides a graphic warning to Australia not to risk this toxic industry dominating our landscapes," said Mr Buckingham.

"I'm keen to share what I witnessed with the people of the Northern Rivers and hope they can attend to watch the videos we took of a mature unconventional gas industry and what it actually means on the ground.

"The Greens Responsible Mining Bill will prohibit coal seam gas and mining in certain productive agricultural areas and other sensitive areas. Additionally it will provide local council's with the power to prohibit coal seam gas and other mining in certain areas under their local planning provisions," said Greens MP Jeremy Buckingham.


UPDATE FROM GLENUGIE

Update from Casino, Metgasco offices 8.45am Wednesdy- Drill rig is still in compound at Metgasco offices. Two prime movers have left, apparently (according to the drivers) they were heading back to QLD. It is assumed these movers were to take items down to Glenugie. A merry party of about 25 kind souls are keeping watch outside the offices, while another convoy of cars does a check of all of Metgasco sites to ensure no other activity. Cover at Metgasco is requested for after 12 noon today to take over from those that have watched through the night. All support very much welcomed.
