ACTION AT DOUBTFUL CREEK
Currently there is an alert for more people to go to Doubtful Creek, Kyogle, as Kyogle Council is threatening to dismantle the protest camp. People are requested to support the camp and/or write to email@example.com reminding them that they have a legal right to peacefully protest.
Here"s my offering:
FOR THE ATTENTION OF KYOGLE COUNCIL
Is Kyogle Council is violating Human Rights at Doubtful Creek?
The United Nations Declaration of Human Rights (http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/index.shtml
* (1) Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state.
Therefore everyone has the right to be at Doubtful Creek and not moved on artbitrarily by the police and Kyogle Council.
* Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance.
This surely means that protestors have the right to freedom of thought and conscience to be with others in a public place and manifestly practice their beliefs; ie blockade miners who ignore the Precautionary Principle and threaten the wellbeing of current and future generations through mining operations which are known to be contentious.
* Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.
Would you therefore please leave the protestors where they are to practice their Human Rights. Thank you.
For about 5 days there has been a helicopter flying up and down Main Arm & Mullum Creek Valleys and circling around like a blue-arsed fly on horse manure.
It is unmarked; ie presumably not police or lifesaving. Please send in your best conspiracy theory.
On a personal note, I am not sending many newsletters currently as I am focussing on the Mullum survey and getting my hand-made recycled house & garden ready to sell; it"s on one acre 5 mins from Mullum. Also there are plenty of CSG messages available for your inbox (see below).
QUOTE: "When we make the effort to place soul at the centre of our concerns . . . values shift significantly. In every gathering of people, from business to politics, community would be considered more important than organisation, and friendship more valuable than productivity. If this idea seems anachronistic or impossible to live in our culture, then it is apparent how far we have to go to make our lives more soulful."
