YOUR SUPPORT MUCH NEEDED
Drop in to MULLUM CIVIC HALL
This THURS 21st FEB 11 2pm and 4 7pm
Q: What"s an E-Zone?
A: It"s a beauty spot which has been protected thanks to efforts of dedicated community-minded people; native vegetation, a wildlife corridor or waterway riparian zone. Now the state gov, bless their souls, are hungry for more development and want to remove our hard won protections for these ecologically important places. These zones may be wanted for csg mining.
Check picture of Byron Shire areas currently under E-Zone review (read threat) at
http://www.northcoastnature.org.au/other/byron-e-zone-day-tips and scroll down the page till you see the map of Byron Shire. Shock horror marked in red. It"s a great website - read HOME PAGE too.
YOUR OPINION IS IMPORTANT!!
Drop into the Mullum Civic on Thursday, find out what"s in store, let them know what YOU think. OR comment online:

CSG REFORMS FOR URBANES, HORSE STUDS AND WINERIES
O"Farrell has conceded to community pressure, his style, and has promised a 2km protection zone from csg drilling around urban areas, horse studs and wineries. Big deal! Is this about city votes and protecting tax dollars from alcohol and gambling addictions - and how much will that protect our farmland, waterways and wildlife? O"Farrell priorities? Ha! A (less cynical) very informative newsletter, with lots of links to news items, is available from csgfreenr.lismore@gmail.com
What about the bush, O"Farrell? PLEASE REVOKE ALL CSG LICENCES.

CAMDEN (Inner West of Sydney) AGL GAS PROJECT
STAGE 3 NORTHERN EXPANSION CANCELLED
Brad Hazzard has made a small concession (thanks to his Lismore experience?) and cancelled" Stage 3 expansion. Anthony Albanese sent me an email about this headed "We won on csg". However Alan Jones says AGL have suspended the plan to drill 66 csg wells in the area" because they are under people"s houses and asks why they are not being abandoned altogether. He"s worth a listen:
Alan Jones talks to Drew Hutton about coal seam gas mining and the Maules Creek mine approval.

Meanwhile, Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke on Monday granted conditional approval for the coal seam methane gas project at Gloucester on the state's mid-north coast.

QUOTE: Even in evolution, the evidence now shows that change is not a seamless, gradual process but one of sudden, dramatic shifts. Small incremental changes reach a tipping point. Starhawk: Webs of Power: Notes from the Global Uprising.
