JEREMY BUCKINGHAM in OCEAN SHORES TOMORROW FRI 30th AUG
Frack-finding again, this time in Indonesia; presenting a talk with images and footage of the largest mud volcano in the world, Sidoarjo, resulting from blowout of a gas well in East Java thanks to drilling operation misconduct and inundating entire villages, schools and roads. Jeremy will also present footage of Texas, Wyoming and Pennsylvania. Jeremy is a great speaker and well worth going to see.
Presentation details:
Ocean Shores Community Centre: 6pm – 7pm, Friday 30 August.
Kingscliff Community Hall: 11:30 – 12:30pm, Saturday 31 August.


LIVING EARTH FESTIVAL AND STREET PARADE
Please join us in the walking float on Sunday 1st September at council chambers carpark: please arrive 9ish to register. Bring signs with Living Earth theme; what you want to protect or your vision for the future. We are still collecting artworks for KIDZART (grown-up kids too) and will be having a tent at the Community Gardens Festival where you can leave your banner or create one there. Tell the world how passionate you are about our environment and we"d love to get the message out to pollies and maybe in a book.
On http://www.mullumaction.org is an article about Balcome CSG protest, in Sussex UK; a very elite county in south of England. I notice how young the protesters are, the enormous police presence and NO SIGNS!! Maybe we can inspire them with artworks – please bring yours to the festival. You can have them back, we"d like to photograph them.

MICROWAVE RADIATION IN MULLUMBIMBY
The microwave ante will be upped quite considerably in the near future with proposed microwave towers for NBN and Telstra (a new one has appeared at Mullum Post Office), proposed Wifi hotspot for Mullum, smart metres and the smart grid.
Just google radiation and bees, for instance, and you"ll come across a plethora of information. What"s the effect on humans? Do you sleep well? Ever had tinnitus? What"s the effect of EMR on birds, ants, whales and human blood cells? There are plenty of peer-reviewed papers on the subject which are being ignored by the bottom-liners.

PROPOSED NEW CENOTAPH ERECTION IN MULLUMBIMBY
Omg! This is ugly! (my subjective opinion). Please go to http://www.mullumremembers.blogspot.com.au and have a look at what might be put next to our lovely Civic Centre. It"s big, black and cold cold marble, and there"s even a coffin . . . check out the full proposal at RSL foyer and leave a submission; please leave a submission. The Civic Centre is generally celebratory and the cenotaph next door is for respectful remembrance; currently their co-existence is mellow. However, this enlarged monument will have an overwhelming visual impact on the public precinct which has become central to the Mullum Music Festival. Your say is invited. GASFIELD FREE SIGNS – Mullumbimby
Thanks Carole Gamble for generous donation. The signs are big metal reflective ones. At the top is "Welcome to Mullumbimby" with the outline of Chicogan around a yellow triangle with 95% in the middle of it and underneath it says "Protected by Community". We will have one at the beginning of Argyle Street and one near the golf course. Costing $800 all up, we welcome donations. I will have a collection bucket at the honey stall at Mullum Farmers Market and at the Kidzart stall at Living Earth Festival. Thanks to Olga for designing the signs and undergoing the myriad consultations.



SAVE OUR REEF
The rally in Brisbane last Sunday was well attended; estimates ranging from one to 4 thousand people.
