Greetings
New NSW PLANNING BILLS
will be debated this week. If we don"t object to them, (just a few mins via BPN website below) they will open the way for developers" and miners" open-slather. All environmental protections that were hard won in the seventies by dedicated people in conjunction with the Green Bans imposed by Jack Mundy will be lost. Check below for list of what we stand to lose. Oh dear. Please forward to your friends.

MESSAGE FROM BPN: Please do two things URGENTLY between now and Tues 26 Nov no later than Thurs. 28 Nov. We need to bombard the computers of the Labor Shadow Cabinet and the Upper House. EMAIL IS BEST. (They can take the phone off the hook.)
This is a numbers game.
Let the pollies know they have to throw out the Planning Bills on Tues. 26 November or you will live with the consequences whether it be high rise, csg extraction, open cut mines etc. IT IS UP TO EVERYONE TO DO THIS!
PLANNING BILLS UPPER HOUSE DEBATE NEXT TUESDAY
Go to the BPN Website Home page; see link below; send your personal message to throw out the planning bills stating why; hit SEND and your message goes to every member of the Upper House.
Suggested reasons:
taking power away from councils and residents; approval to interfere with aquifers and water resources; spot rezoning facility for developers; urban growth areas denying people their amenity and the right to comment rendering them powerless; all power given to the Planning Minister and Director-General of Planning to override Local Plans, Councils etc; emphasis on economic growth at the expense of environmental protection; tokenistic community engagement; further erode protection of the coast, heritage and native vegetation; Aboriginal heritage is not (explicitly) addressed in the Planning Bill; more complicated system than the current planning legislation; removing the right of the community to appeal decisions; lack of transparency in the decision making processes
I AM SURE YOU CAN NOMINATE ANY OF THESE OR OTHER REASONS TO THROW OUT THESE PLANNING BILLS
Thank you for all that you do.

QUOTE: 'The animals . . . they"re the ones who know the country more than any of us ever will. They have no rights, and yet all the deep, deep knowledge is written in their muscles and their bones.' Thanks Jill Keogh for this quote from Melissa Lucashenko"s book "Mullumbimby".
