FLASH MOB AT BENTLEY TOMORROW (Thurs 23.1.14 from 7am onwards)

Surveying at Bentley has commenced! Everybody is welcome to join the flash mob at the Rosella site 12ks from Lismore along the Kyogle Road, park at Bungabbee Road. Please bring placards and signs. Also needed: star pickets, old whitegoods ie washing machines, fridges, etc, bags of concrete, an auger and some hard cash. Come and get to know the site and help develop creative ideas. LEARD FOREST

Many thanks to everyone who supported our recent info night by making delicious food and also to those who came and bought it! The event was well attended; about 70 people, and we have been able to send $500 to the Leard slush fund, $100 being for Muzz"s ute. Muzz has been protecting the forest for 18 months now and his ute is needing repairs. Luckily our advertising expenses were covered by funds we made at the Uplift Festival by selling water. Thanks too for all the helpers, especially Param who organised it.

Olga and Michael have taken food to the Leard this week. Others will be going for the Australia Day weekend; contact 66843723 if you want to donate food or would like a ride.


JOHN FENTON – WYOMING FARMER & CSG CAMPAIGNER

John Fenton will be sharing his years of experience of life in a USA gasfield when he visits Australia next month. He will be around here late February. The trip is organised by Jeremy Buckingham"s office; more news soon.


LAPINDO MUD VOLCANO, EAST JAVA

The Lapindo has been belching toxic mud for 7 years and since 2006 has swallowed 1300 hectares, 3 villages and displaced 50,000 people. This was caused by a CSG gaswell; when the drill was removed the mud volcano erupted. Did the big banks who funded the gas exploration accept any responsibility for the disastrous mudflow caused by drilling? Incredible images of this on-going catastrophe at google.
