GOODBYE ...

;

;
I’ve hung up the activist hat; needing to focus on moving on into the next phase of my life. Thanks everyone for support and feedback over the last 5 ½ years, it’s been an amazing journey.

;

;
Mullumaction started in 2008 when Woolworths announced they were going to move to town.  We put up a good fight and learned a lot about localisation; support of the local economy.   We had a great rally in July that year with a colourful bannerful procession down the railway lines to the Woolworths site where we burned the “Big Box”.  The media were most supportive, The Sydney Morning Herald did a full page article and we were on ABC’s Four Corners.  Besides the local ABC, Bay FM and local TV, I spoke on Australia Talks and Bush Telegraph.  Even the Saturday Star gave us plenty of mileage, albeit in a less than amiable tone.  From our original Steering Committee, the Mullum Farmers Market was created.  At around the same time, the Mullum Community Gardens came into being. So we can thank Woolworths for our revolution into resilience.

;

;
The next issue was CSG and the Mullumaction structure was a great support in getting Mullumbimby declared 95.5% Gasfield Free.  I’ve also had feedback that Mullum was well represented at Bentley.

;

;
Thanks again to everyone for support in the campaigns and also for the fundraising events.  Names are too many to mention, with the exception of Robert Hart, Mullumaction webmanager.

QUOTE:  “I am talking of an invasion of our country, a taking over of land and a clearing out of people.  And I mean this literally”.  Sharyn Munro:  RICH LAND, WASTELAND: How coal is killing Australia.

;

;
ANOTHER QUOTE:  Dharmakaya can express itself in just being.  Sometimes if we don’t do anything, we help more than if we do a lot.  We call that nonaction.  It’s like the calm person on a small boat in a storm.  That person does not have to do much, just to be himself and the situation can change.  That is also an aspect of Dharmakaya:  not talking, not teaching, just being.   Thich Nhat Hanh:  Being Peace.
