The NSW Opposition is accusing Planning Minister Kristina Keneally of rushing through too many major developments. Keneally has passed 90 Part 3A projects in 170 days, nearly one every two days, claims the Australian Liberal Party.

Minister Keneally insists the figure is a more unexceptional 61, with some of those being signed not by her but by the director general of the Department of Planning, Sam Haddad.

In November 2008, Keneally promised to “take the politics out of planning” implying there would be fewer ministerial decisions on Part 3A projects.

However, the Opposition rails, “the same stench surrounds Part 3A developments.  The Part 3A process is surrounded by the stench of corruption thanks to the state Labor government as it extended Part 3A to projects that are not truly state significant".
