COMMUNITY SUBMISSIONS WANTED: WOOLWORTHS LIQUOR LICENCE
Have YOUR say on the Woolworths Bottle Shop closing date 26th July
An opportunity to have your say on Woolworths new bottleshop!
IMPORTANT: CLOSING DATE IS 26th JULY.
(All submissions must be received by the liquor authority by that date)
Before Woolworths can open their liquor store at their new (proposed)
supermarket in Station Street, they have to fulfil the law and complete a
COMMUNITY IMPACT STATEMENT (CIS). This law came into being in July 2008 and
enables the “Authority” (New South Wales Casino, Liquor heand Gaming
Control Authority) to assess the impact that Woolworths bottle shop might
have on the community.
Woolworths are applying to remove the current bottle shop (next to Mallams) to their new proposed premises in Station Street.
Important points
The difference between the two bottleshop locations is that the Mallams’ old bottleshop is in the main street (the CBD) and the new proposed premises are in a residential area which is a quiet backstreet about 150 metres from the Mullumbimby Public School. Furthermore, Mullumbimby already has a bottleshop in each of the two pubs. Is a new liquour outlet needed or desirable in our residential area? Please write and have your say.
A copy of the community information form sent to affected residents is downloadable from this site.
Full information is on the downloaded form, or thru Woolworths’ Solicitors Back Schwartz Vaughan. Submissions can be sent to them or (preferably) directly to the NSW Casino, Liquor and Gaming Control Authority, GPO Box 7060, Sydney 2001 (tel: 02-9995 0894).
Thank you for your interest.
